It’s called “urban axe-throwing” and the concept of tossing a 4-pound blade at a wooden target is now available in Boynton Beach. Owner Joey Magee recently opened Game of Axes in a shopping plaza near Military Trail and Flavor Pict Road, at the Boynton Beach-Delray border and so far it’s been a hit. Newcomers are trained by “axe masters” before they start throwing axes at one of the 18 targets at the end of nine lanes. And just like darts or bowling, each throw is awarded points by its proximity of the thrown axe to the center of the target. I decided with my wife to open one up. When you come into our facility, you will sign a waiver, then you would go over some safety guidelines and throwing techniqes before you play. There have been no accidents, and we like to keep it that way. Safety is our number one priority.” [BRUCE R.
